Autorenporträt
Horton Marlais Davies, formerly Professor at Princeton University, was a minister in Wallingford, London during the Blitz in World War II; he then founded the department of religion at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, around the time of apartheid; finally he came to America at the time of the Human Rights protests. He is the author of thirty-six books, including, Worship and Theology in England; Varieties of English Preaching, 1900-1960; The English Metaphysical Preachers, 1588-1645; and the co-authored French Huguenots in English Speaking Lands. His first book of sermons appeared under the title Believing.
