The role of coconut oil was investigated for anticonvulsant activity in a laboratory model: induced convulsion test. Rats were divided into five groups. The first 2 groups were reference groups, while the remaining three groups were the test groups. The test groups received oral administration of coconut oil at increasing doses (low, medium and high doses). After administration convulsions were induced . The brain activity of the rats was analysed. A dose dependent and appreciable anticonvulsant effects was noticed. These results confirm one of the many important uses of coconut oil. The findings also justify the use of Ketogenic diet as a natural remedy for brain seizures like epilepsy. This book also highlights so many important uses of coconut oil.
