The purpose of this study is to research how loss of face impacts Chinese socialization in multi-cultural group. Based on previous papers about Chinese culture, Chinese socialization and face work, I designed an exploratory study to better understand how loss of face as a factor to effect Chinese social behavior. To address these issues, in study one, I asked 7 Chinese to write self-reports about their opinions and experiences of socialization and face during one month and interviewed each of them 45 minutes. After data analysis, I made a list about all the results of study one and surveyed among other 16 Chinese to figure out whether they are feasible through Likert system in study two. I had several findings such as Chinese respect hierarchy to avoid loss of face in socialization, loss of face can also have group orientation and Chinese use indirectness as a strategy to protect face in different surroundings etc. Key words: Loss of face, Cross culture, Chinese, Socialization, Confucianism
