Roma Randles has used the time on her hands during the Melbourne Covid Lockdown to respond to innumerable requests for an account of her thirty years of extraordinary and exciting European adventures. It makes for some compelling reading. So many participants returned again and again to travel with Roma, discovering great art, great architecture, great music and magnificent locations all over Europe. They met great personalities, they shared great experiences. Learning whilst travelling was a major keynote. Fun was always an important ingredient and very many lasting friendships have been made along the way. Now Roma looks back with some amazement at how it could all possibly have happened. At the start, she was, after all, a 'one man band '. But it went from strength to strength and now these incredible experiences are shared by so many participants she has lost count.

Autorenporträt
Roma Randles pursued her own career both in Australia and during the eight years the family lived in England, as well as undertaking some post graduate study in London. Her teaching experience has been at the senior level in both countries. Many of her former students are themselves today following musical careers.During the eighties, Roma began to diversify these interests into some more managerial roles .... organising concerts, master classes, private courses for adults, arranging music weekends, and also organising and managing Australian tours for some overseas artists. It was during this time that she was approached about the idea of creating and conducting European tours. At first she was reluctant to do this, but persuaded by UTA French Airlines, she finally agreed, and the LINGUA MUSICA annual Music /Arts Tours were born! They have been an enormous effort, but have now become quite established on the Australian travel scene, with people from all over the country returning again and again to join her on these exciting European adventures.Roma Randles makes all the arrangements, in conjunction with her Australian agent and all her European ones, as well as her very well known private contacts in Europe. She invites distinguished lecturers and performers at the top of their fields, and who are often personal friends, to be associated with the tours. This is one of the many aspects which make the LINGUA MUSICA tours so unique. On tour as well, she acts as Tour Manager and Cultural Adviser, gives some lectures in her own field, and just occasionally performs for her group. The tours are expertly organised, and no detail is too small for her constant attention. Variety is a well considered keynote, and so much varied content is included which brings great vitality to every tour. Learning-whilst-travelling is another concept Roma holds dear, and this is a major aspect of every LINGUA MUSICA tour.Of course necessary free time for rest, contemplation, and independent discovery are important on tour too, and these times are built in to every programme.Whilst discovering many different corners of Europe, wonderful excursions, great architecture, history, art, food and wines, and above all, great music, simple fun is an element never forgotten. Many new and long lasting friendships have been forged during a LINGUA MUSICA Tour.
