How to Make a Monster Smile gets you reading, laughing, hugging, honking your nose and smiling with your tiny reader! This is the book that cures the dreadful grumpies! This is the book to grab when it's an hour past nap time, you just served the snack your child loved last week (but now they apparently hate) in the wrong color of bowl! This book has been read thousands of times and we promise that every single time it is read-it makes a monster smile! Great books shift the reader's worldview, elicit emotions and change attitudes. How to Make a Monster Smile does this through movement, rhyme, humor and enthusiasm. Author, Tomi Schwandt, wrote this book as a tool for parents to transition out of rough times with their children because no one wants to set the microwave timer for yet another time-out!

Autorenporträt
Tomi is a mover, shaker and baby maker, which in actuality means she enjoys a good dance party in the kitchen and is a mom to two monsters of her own creation. Tomi has spent the better part of a decade zigzagging the country following a boy in a military uniform she fell head over heels in love with almost fifteen years ago. The Army life has been adventurous and challenging but she has learned to embrace the journey. Things that make Tomi smile: a quiet weekend with her little family; peanut butter; GIFs, face painting; civic engagement; when she and her husband agree on what to watch on Netflix before one of them falls asleep; and all things birthdays! Tomi boasts at least one overdue book, one audiobook and a hefty stack of children's books in daily rotation. She loves a good nonfiction book recommendation and sharing the love of reading with her children and husband. Tomi is from western Kansas and is currently a Political Science instructor for Fort Hays State University and a senior contributor for Wichita Moms Blog. Her first children's book, How to Make a Monster Smile, was published in 2019 and was released in New York City at BookExpo.
