Marcella Smiley started her nursing career in 1996 as a staff nurse in a skilled nursing facility. She has worked as a Minimum Data Set Nurse coordinator for twenty-three years. She recently founded her own consultant agency to broaden her skillset and make an impact on the lives of every MDS coordinator in the world of healthcare. She authored a memoir about her life in 2020. She has three daughters and lives in Augusta, Georgia with her husband of thirty-five years.
