The increasing incidence of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-linked conditions like genital warts (GWs) among women is a worldwide concern. GWs are one of the commonest sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and can cause considerable morbidity in terms of social, psychological and economic consequences. GWs symbolize a noteworthy health as well as cost burden. They affect the quality of life of those affected, with an impact on self-esteem and body image due to the physical disfigurement of the genital area. Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) is an essential part of women s physical, mental and social well-being. Therefore it is worth raising their awareness about the implications of GWs through an educational intervention programme in order to try and reduce the incidence of warts and ensure earlier treatment when needed.
