Water resources have come under intense pressure as a result of human activities. Most human activities along water bodies turn to impact negatively on water level, quality, aquatic life and the entire ecosystem. As competing demand grows, sound researched based information becomes increasingly important to the achievement of sustainable management of water resources. This study was conducted to identify the human activities along the banks of the Tano river and how it affects water quantity, quality and supply in the study area. The study revealed fluctuating water level and poor water quality of the Tano river. Human activities predicted change in water quantity and quality. The study further revealed that there is a direct relationship between population growth and the extent of human activities. This book will help in policy formulation and decision making to ensure sustainable use of water resources.
