Clay-based handicrafts like clay dolls, models, ceramics, terracotta, clay idols etc play important role in art and economy of West Bengal. Presently this art is facing some acute problems regarding information needs, financial assistance, market/selling, training, raw material, infrastructure, information, packaging and working space towards overall product development. The present study has multi-dimensional approaches. Firstly, 'Study of the Subject' where author has organised and described all the divisions and sub-divisions of the subject with citations. Secondly, critical study and analysis of the artisans' opinions about the factors responsible, subject of information required for the product development and job satisfaction of the artisans in relation to different factors like sex, age, income, library use etc. Lastly, author suggested some recommendations and framed a generalised model for the development of the handicrafts in West Bengal. This book is a peer reviewed publication. This book will be very much useful to the artisans, planner, librarian, researchers etc to gather overall information about this crafts and to guide for future planning and further research.
