Autorenporträt
Dr. Mary Gowan, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, is a management scholar and consultant whose research, teaching, and consulting have focused on human resources and organizational behavior, career issues, and work transitions. In addition to teaching undergraduate, graduate and executive education courses, she is the author of a textbook on human resource management entitled Human Resource Management: Managing Employees for Competitive Advantage.  Her research has been published in journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, and Journal of Employment Counseling. She has provided consulting for numerous public, private, and non-profit organizations, including Lockheed-Martin, Marriott, Eureka, and the cities of Charlotte, NC, and El Paso, TX.  Currently, she is the dean of the Mike Cottrell College of Business and professor of management at the University of North Georgia.  She has also served as an associate dean at the George Washington University and dean at Elon and James Madison Universities. She has taught in Finland and in Korea and directed undergraduate and graduate programs or courses with study components in France, China, England, Singapore and Vietnam. Dr. Gowan holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in Business Administration with a focus on human resource management, a master's degree in counselor education from Appalachian State University, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southwest Baptist University.
