In recent decades, the exponential increase in the world's population, together with technological advances, have had an impact on social relations and the process of forming subjectivity and identity. The massive amount of information that has become available, despite its usefulness, incites desires, propagates fear, promotes pressures and internal conflicts. In the society of the spectacle, where appearance and the superficiality of fluid relationships predominate, it has become difficult to recognise one's own desires, abilities, potential and limitations. Without adequate guidance, people tend to experiment "blindly" with life, taking paths that are not ideal for their characteristics. One of these paths is career development, where the school plays a fundamental role, being responsible for shaping the social and intellectual foundations of the individual. The predominant educational system in Brazil has failed to promote cognitive and social skills in students that will help them develop personal and professional autonomy, and this is due to its insistence on preserving teaching methodologies that are incompatible with the contemporary world. What will the education of the future be like?
