This book is a technical explanation of the brain's ability to produce intelligent behavior. I do this by looking back into the recent and beginning history of humanity. It should be obvious that if brain structure is responsible for the production of intelligence then it will be difficult to do studies on something we can't really "look at" readily - the brain. I get around that problem by using human actions as proof of the presence or lack of intelligence. A survey of humanity and the wars and social strife of the entire historical record of humans is needed and that is what I provide. I cover many topics pertinent in today's world such as gun control, freedom of speech and all of our God given rights. Communism is a topic I mention throughout the book becasue it is relevant in displaying the emotional drivers present in all of us at birth. I also present a suggestion (basically a hypothesis) for how humans can design and build a human level intelligent machine. This explanation will further clarify any ambiguity the reader has about how the brain works as well as providing another real world example of how even scientists in the highest positions in academia can suffer from negative human emotional traits. In order to present an understandable explanation of theses complex subjects I first define exactly what intelligence is as opposed to what most people assume it to be. I end the book with what I believe is an accurate prediction of humanity's freedom using average intelligence level of all humans as a measuring stick. I believe the advancement of technology is imperative to the survival of humanity and paradoxically, the freedom of humanity is imperative to the advancement of technology. About the author (me) I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Science. I have a total of 26 years of experience as an electronics engineer and technician. At the age of 56 I went back to school and received a master's in computer science and subsequently was accepted into a PhD program in computer science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After doing many years of research into artificial intelligence I was dropped from the PhD program by virtue of not passing a standardized test known as: The ETS subject test in computer science. No one over the age of 35 has ever passed it as far as I was able to determine (per Department of Education documents) . During Frank's career in electronics he was employed by: Motorola (Radio communications equipment) Rockwell International (Telecommunications equipment) Hughes Aircraft Company (Army, Air Force and Navy electronics equipment instructor) Sperry Systems Management (U.S. Navy Guided Missile Frigate Combat Systems) Martin Marietta Denver Aerospace (Space Shuttle Program, communications security) Great Lakes Naval Training Center (Basic electronics instructor) Honeywell (Building safety systems) Before going to school Frank was an Infantryman in the U.S. Army and he served a one year tour of duty in Vietnam from January, 1969 to January, 1970. It is through life experiences and educational choices that have given Frank the unique set of pertinent examples of human stupidity to draw upon and was the impetus for writing this book.
