This exceptional bibliography, a pioneer work in its field, surveys Hungarian literature from its beginnings to 1965. Tezla begins his coverage of each author with a brief biographical account offering pertinent data on family background, education, and literary activities. The sketch provides observations on the writings of the author and his place in Hungarian literature, and a record of the languages into which his works have been translated. Further material on the author is divided into annotated sections noting bibliographical, biographical, and critical studies.

Autorenporträt
Tezla Albert: Albert Tezla authored An Introductory Bibliography to the Study of Hungarian Literature (1964), and was professor of English at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. The information in his most recent volume is derived from direct examination of original works and critical studies and a search through the holdings of eight United States libraries, the National Union Catalog of the Library of Congress, and fifteen European libraries, including the National Széchényi Library, the Library of the Institute of Literary History, and the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
