Hydrogen energy conquers the energy markets and is part of our daily lives. Hydrogen fuel cells have already been used to create cars, submarines and flying objects. However, one of the most important unsolved problems of hydrogen energy, especially for mobile applications, is the creation of portable batteries for storing and releasing hydrogen. An actual alternative to the traditional methods of storage (liquid, compressed gas) is the metal hydride storage system, where hydrogen is compactly "packaged" in a metal matrix due to the high volume density of hydrogen packaging in metal hydride (0.09 - 0.1 g/cm2), exceeding the density of liquid hydrogen (0.07 g/cm2) and comparable to the density of hydrogen atoms in water (0.11 g/cm2), and the high safety of such storage. The book deals with the basic physical principles of metal hydride storage and hydrogen release systems, analyzes the current state of research on the synthesis of metal hydrides, and discusses the prospects for their practical application. This book has been translated with Artificial Intelligence.
