In the book you are holding, you will understand the micro-climate, hydrometeorological processes, cloud water interception and elements of canopy water balance model of two contrasting montane rainforest types in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. The study was carried out at Mount Brinchang, at two elevations (lower montane forests: 1600m a.s.l. and upper montane forests: 2031m a.s.l). Using standard weather stations and louvered fog gauges; rainfall, cloud water interception, air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and solar radiation were recorded continuously from 1 November 2003 through 28 February 2005. The Penman-Monteith evaporation was estimated for both forest types. In addition, throughfall and stemflow in 0.02 hectare plots at both elevations were measured weekly. The vegetation structure of trees ( 5cm diameter) at both forest sites was also studied. Quantitative evidence is obtained for the first time in Malaysia on cloud water interception and selected elements of canopy water balance for Malaysian montane rainforests.
