My vocal cords, damaged by covid and years of teaching, my voice failed me. I could not make a sound for seven weeks. I was forced to stay silent and listen. I no longer recognised myself without a voice. My passion is helping people - as a therapist and as a teacher. My words are my tool. Who am I without a voice? As a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, counsellor, coach and licensed NLP practitioner, I have seen many clients who are lost and hurting. As a teacher, I have witnessed countless children struggling with mental health issues, often caused by parental figures in their lives, who are destined to become future clients. We need to find answers ourselves, grant ourselves permission to be unwell, to seek solutions and to make ourselves the best versions we can become. In this book, I offer guidance and specific tools for you to try yourself. I want to help you help yourself using psychology, psychotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming explained in simple and effective terms. I am a work in progress, we all are. I share in this book some of what I have learned through working on myself, and my personal healing, in the belief that it can help you in your own personal growth and development. I have found my way through the suicidal thoughts and found that I am stronger than I realised, wiser than ever and yet still learning and growing every day. We will never be the finished article but we can work on ourselves daily. I share part of my story because as a therapist I want people to understand that I am human too. My empathy is genuine, my understanding is real, as I have experienced more traumas than most throughout my life. I can help because I know how it hurts. More importantly, I also know that we can not only survive but thrive. I am living proof. Trauma does not have to control us. We have a choice. We can make changes, in our thinking and in our behaviour. Take courage and step towards that first change. Together, we can start making progress. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Joe Quieros is a clinical hypnotherapist, counsellor, coach and licensed NLP practitioner registered with General Hypnotherapy Register. Joe is the founder of Life Unlimited Hypnotherapy. Prior to her training in hypnotherapy, she was a modern foreign languages teacher teaching French and Spanish in secondary schools. Joe is a mother to three daughters and lives in Essex, UK.
