I AM ANIMA: Songs of Yin Energy Honora Finkelstein's poetry is an outgrowth of her life-long desire to examine, understand, and communicate ideas about the spectrum of human relationships and emotions. Coming from a traditional, middleclass family, she has watched the cultural progress of American women, beginning with their call for equality and liberation from traditional roles in the middle of the last century to a recognition of their intellectual achievements, their social contributions, and their personal power by the turn of the new millennium. Finkelstein was deeply influenced during her doctoral studies by the writings of Carl Jung, as will be apparent in much of her symbolism. Yet her wit and desire to evoke a laugh are also a part of many poems, especially when looking at with the many faces of women in their dealings with the opposite gender. I Am Anima is her tribute to male-female relationships-from the voices of women in process toward learning all about love and connection.
