Big circulation: L.’s illustrations and comics have appeared in the Village Voice, Gilt Taste, the Atlantic, BEA Rock Fest, Verve Magazine, the Zinester’s Guide to NYC, Smoke Signal, SMITH Magazine, the Nib, and the anthologies QU33R (Northwest Press) and Warmer: A Collection of Comics about Climate Change for the Fearful & Hopeful. He is also the product designer and artist of the famed restaurant murals for La Esquina. Big numbers: Flocks, Nichols’s debut graphic novel, was serialized by Retrofit Comics in a sold out run of thousands. Flocks itself sold out of its initial print run, before the book was ever in stores. They show up: Nichols will tour North America with Flocks.

Autorenporträt

L. Nichols was born and raised in rural southwest Louisiana and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Media Arts and Sciences, both from MIT. L. has a unique voice that utilizes the language of science and engineering to add an additional layer of meaning and complexity to their work. Nichols also incorporates elements of comics to turn their paintings into broader narrative forms. L. lives works as an illustrator, comic artist, graphic designer, educator and sometime blacksmith with their two children in New York’s Hudson Valley. They have been published in over a dozen comics and art books.
