Crystal Smith is an accomplished photographer of Smith Photography; an innovative photography company which also uses their gifts and talents to pour back into the community. Crystal was born the youngest of six children. She is the daughter of Margaret Crosby, and the late Lee Williams. She graduated from Glasgow High School in Newark, Delaware. While matriculating at Glasgow High, she actively participated in cheerleading, basketball, and track. After graduating, she attended Allen University where She competed in public speaking on tristate level, winning several awards. She was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society in 1993 by her English professor Dr. Sandra Black. She remained very active during her 4 years at Allen University. She served four years as captain of the cheering squad, and took up dance under the late Harold Odom, a former dance instructor at Benedict College. She pledged Mu Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. After graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in English; she accepted a position at Spike Boykin Studios. While working, she honed her photography skills. She married in 1997 to Vincent Smith.They have two children Vincent II and Alecia Smith. In 1997 Smith founded her own dance group, "Umoja"; . She has taught dance for over 20 years with clients such as the after school youth under contract for the United States Army of Fort Jackson Army Base and statewide for school age youth. Her credentials include the South Carolina Commission of Artists in Residency. She now works with various youth dance organizations in South Carolina. She is one of the founders of Zeta Alpha Psi Sisterhood. Their purpose is to empower women and youth world wide.
