I Saw the Shotgun Coming is a collection of poems and short pieces written between 1998 and 2012. Covering the minuitae of daily life in the twenty first century, there are musings on life, love and existential angst; of office talk, insomnia, the origins of God from the Cavemen, the London Riots, the young and the damned; as well as observations from the heart of the coffee shop and the world both outside and inside that passes us all by. Included are the prose poem Standing Beside You in the Rain, a previously unpublished account of a boy at the bus stop with his parents waiting for the last bus home; Michael a short story where our main protagonist deals with the sight of his mother upset on his bed, with God dressed as a pimp coming to his aid; and Box of Kittens where the notion that all secrets, good or bad, come in boxes. Within these pages, we find it is not necessarily the world outside where the shotgun is being pointed but often it is us holding it at ourselves.
