From award-winning author J.M. Holmes: three exciting science fiction novellas in one volume! In Ice, Ice, Baby a team of scientists stranded on an ice planet are fighting against time as their science station slowly overheats, threatening to cook them alive. At the same time, a murderous saboteur is killing them off one by one as he works to destroy their mission. To stay alive the scientists must unmask the saboteur and restore their station's life support systems before the ice outside swallows their grounded ship. It's suspense, mystery, and pulse-pounding tension in one thrilling package. Prodigy is a tale of preternatural suspense that follows a pair of parapsychologists as they are slowly drawn down into a rabbit's hole of psychic perception, unwitting pawns in a nefarious plot woven by their mysterious employer. Time Trial is a fascinating foray into a paradoxical world of multiple time jumps, as the main character ends up working alongside countless past and future versions of himself to complete a project requiring hundreds of workers - all of whose duties he alone must perform. With nail-biting suspense and terrific characters, this volume of three engrossing tales is guaranteed to satisfy the casual reader looking for an entertaining blend of science fiction, action, mystery and romance.
Autorenporträt
J. M. Holmes was born and raised in Canada and educated in the Classics by Jesuits and nuns. A Renaissance polymath, Holmes has been the Editor of the bilingual magazine for Glendon College in Toronto; the Editor of that city's French-language newspaper, Le Metropolitain; a successful magazine publisher; and Director of the Davis Film Festival in Davis, California. Recipient of the 2005 Heroes Award from the American Red Cross, Holmes has also received commendations from the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the California Legislature, and the City of Davis, California, in recognition of extraordinary charity work performed. Holmes is also the winner of awards in California for running a business with outstanding environmental practices and from Rotary International for producing that charity's weekly publication. Sadly, Holmes bears some measure of responsibility for the overpopulation of Planet Earth, having participated in the creation of two additional humans, Alex & Sarah, both of whom are college students working hard at honing their skills in questioning authority and challenging conventional wisdom. Currently, J. M. Holmes resides in the United States and shares a home with seven feral cats.
