Autorenporträt
Brumy has been participating in various artforms including music, poetry, and acting since his early childhood. As such, he mixes rhythmic meter and performative demeanor into his writing, which tries to explore the cathartic release of art and how it relates to the human experience as a whole. His pieces explore different themes from questioning societal expectations, to introspective self reflection, to battling depression and suicidal tendencies (which drove him to poetry in the first place). He was a participant in the 2017 National Poetry Slam which took place in Denver, CO representing the wonderful Mill City Slam team, and his work has been published both in the United States as well as abroad. He also helped record and produce a compendium of poems from the 2017 Slam Team, available as both a book and CD of live readings. Musically, he has performed with many different groups over the past decade, and currently is both a performer and sound engineer for "Casa do Galo", a group dedicated to promoting the entirety of Portuguese culture including works and artists from Brazil, Mozambique, the Azores, Angola, Cape Verde and more. He also writes solo pieces for bass which have been performed during the Day of Portugal celebration in Rhode Island in 2018, as well as broadcast on the popular Portuguese talk show "Hora Quente". He has also written music for indie video games such as "Project Swordsmith" and "Lattice Grimoire". As an actor, he has been involved with numerous short series on YouTube such as "24/7 Sunset Strip" playing Frankie Fruits; as well as short films such as "Coming Together" where he played Houston Mathers, and the police drama "P71" where he played Officer Michael. He hopes to continue to be involved in as many ways possible both as a performer, and as a listener/promoter of the limitless talented individuals he is grateful to come in contact with. This treasure that is art and individual expression is something that he is only beginning to understand, but he looks forward to the journey of embracing the soul of creativity, and promoting the continuation of this familial connection we all share as artists/audiences.
