At a party for the returning veterans Lucky finally accepts the fact her husband was not returning home at a party and suffers a breakdown. This is the seventh book by the author. He was raised in Des Moines, Iowa, attended Drake University, and received his BA in 1952 from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI). He taught science in Illinois and Florida, and in 1958, he received a fellowship to attend the University of Florida. He received his PhD in science education in 1969. He taught at Marshall University, Austen Peay State University, and Valdosta State University. He is a widower and resides in Lake Park, Georgia.
