The distinguished authors first consider the use of screening mammography and approaches to breast cancer detection using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and then demonstrate how improved visualization of the prostate gland from transrectal ultrasound and MRI has made it possible to diagnose prostate cancer and perform minimally invasive delivery of high-dose radiation to the tumor-bearing region(s) of the gland with minimal toxicity.
