Immediate implants have become widely accepted despite controversial beginnings and the available literature consistently cites high levels of success. In most instances, dentists are able to place an implant immediately upon the removal of a tooth and even create a provisional restoration on the implant in the same visit. The various techniques have been perfected and pioneered with the use of microsurgery and tissue engineering for optimum esthetic results. With the development of specifically designed implant surfaces and the utilization of time-saving surgical and prosthetic techniques, patients are now being restored and returning to function sooner than previously thought possible i.e., when they are employed in appropriate situation, immediate implants provide clinically recognizable benefits. This book, with appropriate illustrations and references attempts to provide rationale for immediate implants and analyze factors that influence this widely sought treatment method. All references have been duly noted as a tribute to all my fellow-researchers.
