Cattle population are susceptible to various infectious and non-infectious diseases causing huge economic losses. Among these Tuberculosis (TB) remains an important disease of cattle and is of significant zoonotic importance. The present investigation was carried out to diagnose bovine tuberculosis using pathological and molecular techniques, and to characterize tuberculous lesions using histopathological, histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques. It also showed the important role of cell mediated immunity in the pathogenesis of bovine TB and the use of real time PCR for confirmatory diagnosis of M. bovis.
