Recent transformations in agriculture has created new technical requirements and compliance costs that is making difficult for resource-poor farmers to access modern market channels. In this respect, the model of "Contract Farming" was introduced under Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act,2003 which promised to create a better marketing environment for farmers. This book aims to typify the extent to which contract farming is helping the farmers to access assured markets,removal of middle man, better price and above all improved living standards of the farmers. A detailed study of contract farming in Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir state and recommendations are the main highlights of this book.
