Climate change is a major challenge for our society.Though Kerala is the gate way to India s south west monsoon, more or less assured amount of rainfall is being received every year over the state. Even though annual and seasonal variability has been increasing in recent decades. changes in climatic conditions have already affected the production of some staple crops and future climatic change threatens to exacerbate this. The state economy is greatly dependent on production of plantation crops which is very much influenced by weather factors such as rainfall and temperature. Study shows that rice production is adversely affected by the changes in temperature and relative humidity. Rainfall is critical for both cardamom and banana where there is positive impact for cardamom unlike banana. So the negative impacts are a major threat to food security. There must be an international political solution and self participation of the society to abide combating climate changes and its impacts. This book clearly open up a wide eye to the climate changes and its impact on crop production in Kerala.
