Impact of Climate Change : The Himalayas are very important sources of fresh water with huge storage in the form of snow/ice and glaciers. These are sources of many perennial Himalayan rivers with sustain base flow due to contribution from snow and glacier melt. These Himalayas and glaciers are one of the most sensitive indicators of climate change i.e. air temperature. Surface temperature, the major indicator of climate change, of the earth is rising globally and it has already greatly affected the world in many folds e.g. gradual melting of glaciers with negative mass balance, hence affecting runoff patterns including base flow variation. The outputs of study of Impact of Climate Changer in water resource i.e. in stream flow are important guidance for water resources managers to make and implement appropriate strategy for water resources management and hydropower development. It is more useful for adaptive planning i.e. enhance and efficient use of base flow along with the mitigative/preventive measure for high flood.
