India reported its first Covid-19 infection on 30 January 2020. Due to highly contagious nature of the disease and also long way ahead in discovery of vaccine, Government imposed a complete lockdown in nation. Nationwide lockdown put complete restriction on movement of people seizing most of the economic activities. Indian economy was already decelerating and pandemic just added to the existing problems of Indian Economy. GVA significantly declined from 7.6% in Q4 (2017-18) to 3.04% in Q4 of (2019-20). Food inflation, disruption in supply chains, unemployment, reduction in aggregate demand posed serious challenges in front of economy. Public finances were impacted due to cyclical slowdown in revenues. Hence, the pandemic has seeded a serious impact on the food security and Agricultural production.
