The new generation of cars is so-called Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) which have the grid connection capability. By the introduction of these vehicles, the grid issues will be connected to the private car transportation sector for the first time. The cars from the gird perspective can be considered as a regular load with certain power factor. The effects of this type of new load in distribution grid are studied in this work. This research deals with investigation about the impact of the plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs') battery charging on the distribution system in terms of voltage unbalance at various locations, transformers overloading, and the load profile of the distribution network. In this work, an 11 kV distribution network has been modeled using Dig SILENT Power Factory software.
