The book comparatively examined the impact of financial accountability and transparency on poverty reduction in local government areas in Nigeria. Today, governments worldwide recognize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as powerful tools for enhancing citizen engagement in public policy-making and as a way of increasing citizen's trust in governments, placing the public will' in the information age. ICTs can help governments to restore trust and confidence in public institutions by promoting accountability and transparency, cost efficiency, effectiveness, and political participation. similarly, there is dearth need by developing countries to initiate the use of ICTs in combating poverty, corruption and wastages. The degree of psychological and informational proximity between citizens and governments affects the level of public trust and quality of services, in particular, the perceived distance about the information gap between the public and government appears to beone of the major elements that have led to the decline of public trust.
