This study examines the impact of children's interest and attitudes towards science by reading science trade books to first and fourth grade students. This investigation reinforces the importance of reading science trade books in an elementary classroom to support science comprehension and instruction. It illustrates how children's literature in the classroom has become a great instructional tool to introduce and teach science concepts and to positively affect student's attitudes and curiosity towards science.

Has been teaching in elementary school classrooms since 2006, mostly in French Immersion. She received her Bachelor¿s degree in Elementary Education followed by another B.S. in Chemistry and French. She also received her Masters degree in Natural Science and Environmental Education from Hamline University.
