Day by day, the environment is subject to multiple pressures and is disrupted by human activity. Our activities have a long-term impact on the environment in which we live. Among these activities is the transport sector, which has an impact on the environment from the moment roads are built, through to their use and the end of their service life. The transport sector thus appears to be one of the biggest sources of environmental destruction and degradation. The aim of this article is to describe the consequences of the construction of the Yaoundé-Nsimalen freeway in a rural section on the natural environment of the territories it crosses. The Yaoundé-Nsimalen freeway has two (02) sections: a rural section and an urban section, crossing three (03) departments: Mfoundi, Mefou and Akono and Mefou and Afamba, all located in the Centre Cameroon region. The passage of this infrastructure has generated a real spatial dynamic and changes in the natural environment of the territories crossed.
