Determining the sand budget for a particular stream reach is solution but for this following information is required like site-specific topographic, hydrologic, and hydraulic information. With this information we can estimate the amount of sand removal in upstream and downstream area of the bridges. To control sand mining the miner should have licence. Illegal operation should be stopped. Government guidelines should be followed by the miners.

Maya Unde is Professor of Geography at Ahmednagar College, affiliated to S. P. Pune University, India. She obtained Ph.D from S.P. Pune University and received CSIR SRF. Her research interests are Geomorphology and RS, GIS . She has published 1 book and 28 research papers. She has completed 6 research projects. She has visited Australia and China.
