Gambella region is comprised dominantly of semi-pastoral communities, whose livelihood is mainly dependent on both arable and livestock farming.The majority of farm households are living on the most traditional ways of living, which are still practicing hunting and gathering activities as well as shifting cultivation in the remotest areas. Moreover, the settlement pattern of the people in the region is highly scattered. As a result, the majority of people in the region are living much further away from socioeconomic services and other infrastructures and majority are food insecure in many parts of the region. Thus, the government seems to have observed this situation and planned vvp as a strategy and begun to implement it since September, 2010. Therefore, villagization taken as an integrated component of food security strategies is supposed to promote and encourage people to participate voluntarily and on a participatory approach. This book, therefore, aims at evaluating the impact of vvp in gambella region so as to understand how well it has been implemented,its development indicators.
