The Algerian coastline, like the regions of the Mediterranean basin with high population density, is subject to permanent aggression including the discharge of domestic and industrial wastewater directly into the sea without prior treatment, the result of a major failure of the current sanitation system. In this context, Bouismail bay is one of the regions that knows intensive human interventions of different types (industrial, agricultural, domestic), which causes disruptions and modifications on the receiving environment and risks for human health because of its tourist extension especially in summer period. Therefore, in this work, we are interested more specifically in the impact of wastewater and the mouths of wadis that discharge all that is waste on the bay of Bouismail, as well as a contribution to the biomonitoring of coastal waters by the study of benthos (macrofauna).
