The idea of creating a radio agency arose in 2014. A debate about journalism in the city of Imperatriz, during a radio journalism class, resulted in the question: why not create an agency capable of producing and distributing journalistic content to the region's modulated frequency radio stations, which have a programme that prioritises entertainment rather than news? That was the starting point for the creation of Radioagência Ímpar. The choice of radio to broadcast the content produced by the news agency was due to its ability to reach the most varied audiences, often being the only vehicle to bring information to populations in vast regions with little access to other media, as is the case in Maranhão, a state with one of the highest rates of digital exclusion.

Adaylma Rocha and Isabel Delice graduated in Social Communication - Journalism from UFMA. Radiagência Impar was conceived as the authors' final course work, the project was developed over a year, during which time they developed several articles along the same lines, and with this project they won the regional prize at Intercom Nordeste 2016.
