Health is one of the fundamental human rights. Good health is a pre-requisite for achieving objectives of life and is essential for acquiring wealth of happiness. Health contributes to happiness and comfortable life. And maintenance of reciprocal relation. It also largely contributes to the accomplishments of the fundamental aims of life. The Government of India has been implementing several welfare programmes such as National Rural Health Mission {NRHM} National Urban Health Mission {NUHM} Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana {RSBY}Revised National Tuberculosis Control Progemme {RNTCP}Janani Suraksha yojana etc, for the development of a down trodden and people of below poverty line. Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme is a unique Community Health Insurance Scheme being implemented in Andhra Pradesh from 1st April 2007. The scheme provides financial protection of families living below poverty line up to Rs. 2 lakh in a year for the treatment of serious ailments requiring hospitalization and surgery 938 treatments are covered under the scheme. The objective of the scheme is to improve access of BPL families to quality medical care for treatment of identified diseases involving hospitalization.
