The amendment of the GuKG 2016 led to an upheaval in the nursing landscape, as it resulted in a very comprehensive reform which, among other things, brought about a division of the health care and nursing professions into three parts. A newly created occupational profile the "nursing assistant" and its implementation is one of the most central aspects of the reform, along with the transfer of the training of the higher service to the tertiary level. The threefold division of the nursing professions that now exists brings with it new framework conditions in terms of the division of competencies and tasks in the care process. The task now is to ensure successful implementation of the new occupational group with an adequate skill and grade mix. The results show that both opportunities and risks can arise from the implementation of the new occupational group.
