In 2000, enrolment rates in primary schools of Tanzania were strikingly low. With the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals, established by the United Nations, this issue was supposed to be solved. In the course of 15 years, universal primary education should be achieved, among other goals. Within this time, enrolment rates improved, and statistics announced successes, but the quality of learning and availability of educational resources suffered. By the end of the deadline, universal primary education was not yet achieved. Hence, a new agenda was introduced in 2015. The Sustainable Development Goals consist of 17 goals to be reached by 2030. The main subject of discussion of this bachelor thesis is the fourth Sustainable Development Goal, ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
