Produktbeschreibung
Pig production in Benin faces many difficulties, especially those related to pig feeding. Farmers, most of whom have been trained on the job, try to make up their own feed by combining a few raw materials without taking into account the needs of the pigs. This results in the problems of stunted growth and low productivity of the animals. This book presents the results of a study aimed at improving the zootechnical performance and immune status of pigs through a balanced diet based on local raw materials in Benin. First, a global overview of pig feed management in Benin is presented. Then, the study provides farmers with information on the nutritional quality of raw materials available in Benin and regularly used to feed the animals. Finally, it proposes to the farmers complete feed formulas based on available raw materials allowing to improve the growth performances and to reinforce the immune status of growing and fattening pigs.
