This work proposes an approach to improve the performance of image compression algorithm. An effective DWT algorithm has been performed on input image file to get the decomposed image coefficients. The improved SPIHT encoder along with Huffman encoder is applied to encode the DWT coefficients and at other side the decoding process is done to achieve the reconstructed image with Inverse DWT. Simulation is done on Matlab to verify the proper functionality of the developed module.
