The factors determining the stability of rock dumps are described, the engineering-geological characteristics of the bases and the conditions for the formation of rock dumps, the lithological composition and characteristics of the rocks composing the bases of dumps, the physical and mechanical properties of the dump mass for research and modeling of the stability of dumps are given.
