This book explores the use of automated reading tutors to improve reading literacy as well as the possibility of using a local language as a medium of instruction in a rural setting. An experiment was done in a rural area in Ghana using automated reading tutors. The observations and results from the experiment were used to create a prototype of an automated reading tutor more suitable for rural environments
