The Government of Kenya's realisation that one of the ways of improving service delivery in Kenya was through the provision of training to senior managers within the Public Service in Leadership led to the implementation of the Strategic Leadership Development Programme for senior managers in Kenya's Public Service. This arose from the need to have a critical mass of leaders who has a shared vision of the strategic direction of the Government. The Strategic Leadership Development Programme was therefore envisaged as the vehicle for the attainment of this goal. This is an evaluation of the programme, its implementation, achievement of objectives and relevance to senior managers. It also evaluates the views of participants and the challenges faced during the programme's implementation. The lessons learnt inform training and human capital development in Kenya's public service.
