Autorenporträt
Kertisha Brabson is widely known for what many consider a miracle that occurred on April 7th, 2019, when she awoke from a coma that she had been in for seven months. Family, friends, onlookers, and even local media outlets gazed and peeped into Kertisha's life in pure astonishment and curiosity. They wondered how she survived a sudden, devastating catastrophe and how she ended up in such an unfortunate circumstance in the first place. After beating the coma, Kertisha spent most of her time focusing on improving her health, loving on her children, and reconnecting with loved ones. Three years after battling her diagnosis, she has gathered the courage and strength to tell her story publicly- but first, Ms. Kertisha Brabson wants readers to know that she was a normal 29-year-old before becoming the woman who lived a miracle.Born in Alliance, Ohio, but raised in Albany, New York- Kertisha Brabson has always embodied resiliency, even as a child who did well with life transitions. She was a very intrigued youth who valued education and set out to reach both her personal and academic goals. When she was a senior in high school, her family made the move back to their original hometown, just in time for her to graduate from Alliance High School. Kertisha would eventually go on to receive a bachelor's degree in Applied Science and Social Services from Stark State College in 2013 and a Dental Assisting certificate from Heritage State College in 2015. Currently, Ms. Brabson practices in her chosen field of study and serves as a full-time dental assistant at a local dental office in Ohio. She is also the proud single mother of two thriving children, a beautiful daughter, Diamonique, and a bright son, Perez. Kertisha enjoys dining at new restaurants with her children and spending quality time with her sisters during their much needed and frequently planned girls' night outings. Her other hobbies include traveling the country and posting new food recipe videos that she creates in her free time. After learning more about the medical diagnosis that left her unconscious for several months- she realized how fragile life truly is. She expresses gratitude daily and never takes for granted the opportunity that she was given; another chance to live. Her debut self-published memoir, In A Blurr, details her life and the events leading up to the unexpected seven month pause in her life. Kertisha explains how her coma affected her and the world around her. One of her key takeaways from the book is to cherish life now and be present in the moment. After engaging and learning more about her story, she hopes to leave her readers aware, inspired, and hopeful.
