Autorenporträt
Janice L. Dick has been writing since 1989. Her first two historical novels, Calm Before the Storm and Eye of the Storm, won first place in the historical fiction category of The Word Guild's Canadian Writing Awards. The third novel in the series, Out of the Storm, was short-listed for the same award. These three novels will be re-released under her own imprint, Tansy & Thistle Press, in the near future. The reason for Janice's interest in historical fiction, specifically about Russian Mennonites, is that it is her heritage. Both her parents emigrated from South Russia as children, and the stories of the Mennonites in Russia and the fall of the Russian Empire under the Tsar, have long intrigued her. Her new series, In Search of Freedom, is about another group of Mennonites who settled farther east in Siberia and attempted escape into China. The first book in that series, Other Side of the River, is also available amazon. The stories of people struggling to keep faith alive in difficult circumstances have become a theme through all her historical novels, as well as the ever-present thread of romance. Besides historical fiction, Janice also writes long and short contemporary fiction, book reviews, blogs and non-fiction articles about writing and publishing. Janice writes from her farm home on the Saskatchewan prairies of Canada. She and her husband love farm life and enjoy their family of three married children and their spouses, and eleven grandchildren.
