Kindra Dean is just fine with her life, or so she thinks. Yes, she's depressed, yes, she's haunted by the memories of her dead sister, and wracked with guilt, not to mention anti-social to boot. But for all intents and purposes, she's fine. After all, she has her job as Library Director in a small Massachusetts town called Orangedale, and she's damn good at it too. Anybody would tell you that. Enter Tiana or T, as she is called, the half Ukrainian, half Puerto Rican, boisterous, outspoken masculine lesbian who moves in downstairs. Kindra and T meet one evening when T is beating the hell out of her punching bag. The noise drives Kindra insane, so much so, that she feels, she must go downstairs and tell that new neighbor to quiet down. But Kindra quickly loses her nerve when the heavily tattooed, muscular T answers the door. T invites her in, and proceeds to tell her about her break up with her lover of 12 years. From that strange first meeting, a friendship develops, a friendship that ultimately changes Kindra's life. Sometimes a day can start out rainy but ends in glorious sunshine... On the other side of town lives Tommy Shannon, the pissed off at the world wheelchair bound man, who lives in his world of porn, and feeling sorry for himself. But his eccentric, Irish mother has other ideas for her son. Her best idea to date, is to bring the pretty Kindra Dean over to charm her son, and save him from his misery. But Tommy will have none of that, after all, he's fine in his world in porn. Can't his mother see that? What ensues is a disastrous meeting between the two, one where Tommy tells her, "To get out, and not let the door hit her in the ass on the way out." To Kindra vowing to never see that Prick-of-the-Year Tommy Shannon again. But that's not the end, but merely just the beginning. The story weaves these two together over the next year as Kindra faces down her demons, and Tommy, through much soul searching decides he wants more for his life. Through the sorrow
