Autorenporträt
Johanna Siegmann is a published author (The Tao of Tango), with an eclectic background in theater, painting, and tango. Marrying her artistic experiences with a camera has been a natural evolution, with her theater experience influencing her lighting, wardrobe, styling, color, visual illusion, and movement. Johanna's interest in photography began in 2008, in the aftermath of a bout with breast cancer. She honed her skills with an online photography community, studied lighting and technique at the Julia Dean Photography Workshops (JDPW), and took classes with a number of great photographers including Kevin Scanlon, and Brooke Shaden. A 10-week workshop at JDPW launched her "people with their pets" project. Johanna has had numerous solo and group shows in the U.S. and abroad; and was selected as the artist in residence by the National Park Service for a project in the Mojave National Preserve. She was both a finalist and received honorable mentions two years running in the Urban Photographer of the Year photo contest (from over 21,000 entries); and led a How to Work with Models workshop for JDPW school. For over 8 years she was a photographer of record at CB Richard Ellis and provided architectural photo services for other major brokerage firms, including Cushman & Wakefield, Colliers International, and Grubb & Ellis. Johanna has provided "behind the scenes" (BTS) coverage for numerous film and TV projects, including a pilot for Captain Bill's Fun Fun Funship; Getting Ed Laid with Jean Smart and Ed Asner, and Koreatown Ghost Story a short film starring Margaret Cho, which has been picked up by Paramount for development into a feature film. She created several celebrity photo editorials, including with actress Dee Wallace (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) for Life Over 50 magazine, and actress Renee Victor (Weeds) for ArtNStyle magazine. Her images have been featured in the Royal Photographic Society Journal, Life Over 50, Arts N Fashion, Los Angeles Times, and Vogue Magazine, and several books and CD covers. Ms. Siegmann has received national and international press with interviews in Fahrenheit Magazine, Vogue Magazine, Caras Magazine, and Estilo Magazine (in Mexico).
